To anyone who listens,
I'm Shevs — an independent OPM (Original Pilipino Music) artist writing songs about
the moments most people walk past. The early mornings, the long walks home, the quiet
hospital corridors, the ordinary dinners that turn out to be the last of something. The
small stories. The ones nobody puts on a poster.
I've always believed that the most powerful stories aren't found in movies, but in the
small, quiet moments we all live through every day. This music is for the early mornings,
the long walks home, and the thoughts we keep to ourselves when the world gets too loud. I
wanted to take those silent struggles and genuine feelings we all share and turn them into
something you can actually hear.
I write mostly in Tagalog, sometimes in English, and almost always at night. The songs on
Kahel at Bughaw were collected over the course of 2025 — not as planned
songwriting sessions, but as notes on my phone after small things happened: a graduation
that became a wedding, the corridor of an old school, the colour of the sky one specific
evening at the sea. Each song is one of those moments, given a melody and a duration.
About the production: I want to be honest about how the music is made. I write the lyrics,
shape the melodies, decide the arrangement and sequencing, and direct every creative
choice. The sonic textures of the album are produced with the help of an AI music tool
(Suno). I think the conversation about AI and music is worth having transparently —
for me, authenticity lives in intention. The feelings, the stories, the words, the specific
memories that became these songs are mine. The tool helped me carry them across.
These songs are a reflection of us — just ordinary people trying to find meaning in
the in-between moments. I hope that when you listen, you hear a bit of your own story in
mine, and you realise that even the most everyday feelings are worth a melody.
With love,
Shevs
